Bryan Davis is always available to teach trumpet lessons, whether at home or on the road. He has been extensively involved in Music education since the early 1990s – giving both private trumpet lessons and conducting workshops/masterclasses, and coaching ensembles all over the world.

His methodology is simple: to promote strong playing fundamentals and good playing efficiency through intelligent and organised practice, and informed equipment choices. This way, one can make music with the instrument rather than against, or in spite of, it! Bryan Davis prefers to use, and is willing to teach, the method of breathing taught to him by Roger Ingram.

Location

Bryan is based in New York City.

Lessons in New York take place at a rehearsal studio location in Manhattan, preferably the Michiko Studios at Roberto’s Winds on West 46th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. The studio rental is the responsibility of the student.

‘Road’ lessons, when Bryan is on tour, usually take place at the performance venue (subject to availability) or at a location provided by the student.

You will need to bring your trumpet and any mouthpieces you use, as well as a tape/digital recorder/video camera. Students are encouraged to record their lessons for reference.

Prices

Lesson prices for 2010 are as follows:

USA: $60 per hour
UK: £40 per hour
Western Europe: €50 per hour

Initial and ‘Road’ lessons are organised on the basis of a minimum 90 minute (preferably 2 hour) session. Subsequent lessons may be booked on a one hourly basis.

If meeting in person for a lesson is not geographically possible, Online Lessons via webcam are also available.

Prepayment for lessons is possible via PayPal: please state this when organising the lesson. There is a prepayment link on the Store page. Cash on the day is preferred.

Students are encouraged to record their lessons for reference, either in audio or video format. Bryan will make an audio recording of your lesson which will be made available to you, via download, if you require it. However, sharing of these recordings, whether online or off- is prohibited without Bryan Davis’ express permission.
